Interested in AR and VR? Scroll down to see what I managed to create!

Whippet Tank in 3D on my phone

The samples provided by AR Core for Unity came with a few examples. One of them is the Augmented Image demo, which allows you to detect images via the phone's camera. I modified it to spawn the tank model instead!

I tested it out with my name cards and photographs of the tanks. You can set the actual physical size of the image in the tool so that the app can detect images faster (the name cards are 0.09m long).

To boost performance, the tank models are recreated from the main game by merging them as 1 piece and using mobile shaders.

Next, I moved on to try out the VR in Oculus Go.

ABC Garage in Oculus Go

Similar to AR, I did some optimization to the garage as Oculus Go is a standalone VR kit. I added a teleportation system so that you can move around the garage and A button above the tank to toggle on/off the X-Ray mode. Being able to see and point at the interior is really cool and have potential for serious gaming application!
